Th17 Cells in Cancer
نویسندگان
چکیده
T helper (Th)17 cells regulate host defense and exacerbate autoimmune diseases, yet their role in tumor immunity remains controversial with reports that Th17 cells could either promote or suppress tumor growth, depending on the type of malignancy or means of therapeutic intervention. This review discusses how inflammatory signals (such as cytokines and co-stimulatory/co-inhibitory molecules) induced in the tumor milieu regulate the functional fate of Th17 cells, which ultimately affect the cells’ capacity to mount immune responses against cancer. We review recent findings regarding the factors that influence the generation, plasticity, and memory phenotype of Th17 cells and their relevance to cancer immunotherapy. Further, we discuss recent reports concerning the interaction of Th17 cells with regulatory T lymphocytes and cytotoxic cluster of differentiation 8 (CD8+) T cells present in tumor tissue. Unraveling the mysteries surrounding basic and translational aspects of Th17 cell biology promises to have important implications for patients with advanced malignancies.

Comparing Serum Levels of Th17 and Treg Cytokines in Women with Unexplained Recurrent Spontaneous Abortion and Fertile Women
Background: Increased evidences have shown that unexplained recurrent spontaneous abortion (URSA) is associated with inflammatory responses and breakage of immunological autotolerance. Therefore, the balance between Th17 and Treg cells may elucidate the pathophysiology of URSA. Objective: To investigate the serum concentration of regulatory and inflammatory cytokines associated with Treg and Th...

Objective(s): Th2 response is related to the aetiology of asthma, but the underlying mechanism is unclear. To address this point, the effect of nebulized inhalation of inactivated Mycobacterium phlei on modulation of asthmatic airway inflammation was investigated. Materials and Methods: 24 male BALB/c mice were randomly divided into three groups: control group (Group A), asthma model group (G...
متن کاملP 51: The Role of T Helper 17 in Pathogenesis of Multiple Sclerosis
Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an autoimmune disease of the central nervous system (CNS) which causes demyelination of the nerve fibers. The etiology of this disease is not well understood but it is believed that T helpers play a central role in MS. Numerous findings support the view that Th17 cells play an essential role in pathogenesis of MS and IL-17 secreting T (Th17) cells have a role in infla...
متن کاملInfluence of 1 Alpha, 25-Dihydroxyvitamin D3 on T Helper 17 Cells and Related Cytokines in Systemic Lupus Erythematosus
Background: Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a multisystem autoimmune disease. Emerging data suggests that T helper 17 (Th17) cells play a pathogenic role in SLE and the increased number of these cells correlates with disease activity. In recent years, 1α, 25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 (1,25VitD3) has been considered as an immunomodulatory factor. Objective: To investigate the effect of 1,25VitD3...

Objective(s): Here we investigated the regulation of Th17 and Treg cells in orthodontic tooth movement during periodontal inflammation.Materials and Methods: Fifty-six SD rats were divided into a control (24 rats) and a tooth movement group during the recovery stage of periodontitis (RM group, 32 rats). Periodontitis was established by s...
متن کاملP64: Increased Proportion of Tc17 and Th17 Cells and their Significant Reduction after Thymectomy may be Related to Disease Progression in Myastenia Gravis
Myasthenia gravis (MG) is an autoimmune disease mediated by auto-antibodies against the neuromuscular junction. The thymus has an important role in the pathogenesis of MG because most of the patients have thymic pathology and thymectomy (TE) can reduce the severity of the disease. In the present study, the frequency of Th17 and Tc17 cells were studied in MG patients (pre and 6 months post-TE) a...
